Harcourts hopes that the ‘Covid-weary’ population of Auckland will get their walking shoes on and embrace the chance to witness art, ecology and cityscapes melding together to protect the Hauraki Gulf over the next few months of Whale Tales 2022.
Today at the official launch of the four-month event, Harcourts’ Auckland regional manager Scott Cousins said the company was humbled and excited to be involved with the World Wildlife Fund, Wild in Art and Auckland Council to present Whale Tales - picked to attract more than 200,000 people and make more than $14 million for the city in economic return.
Eighty large whale tails designed by well known and upcoming artists are dotted around the city for seekers to find, and 80 smaller tails have been given to schools and children’s organisations to decorate and display from March – 31 of them from Harcourts business owners.
The large tails will be auctioned by Harcourts in early May, with all proceeds going to preserving the Hauraki Gulf and its endemic Bryde’s whale population.

The property market closed out 2021 with strong sales volumes & prices. The North Shore median sales price of $1,443,000 was nearly 17% ahead of December 2020.
Volumes, whilst remaining above long-term averages, were down when compared to the prior month and prior year with 424 North Shore sales in December.
Whilst house price growth is expected to continue, the rate of growth is anticipated to cool to a steadier and more sustainable pace.
The impact of rising interest rates, tighter lending criteria, changes to investor taxation restrictions and more choice for buyers are starting to shift dynamics.
